How two doctors who fell in love with Seychelles ended up building its most practical, human travel guide.
We’re Jessi and Peter — two doctors who moved to Seychelles and never quite got over how beautiful, and how surprisingly hard to plan for, these islands can be. We came for work and a change of pace. We stayed because life here, between the granite boulders and turquoise water, is the kind of thing you don’t walk away from easily.
Early on, we noticed something. Friends and family kept asking us the same questions before visiting: When should we come? How do we get between the islands? Is the water calm in October? What do we do if someone gets sick? Is it really as expensive as everyone says? And every time we went looking for clear answers online, we found either glossy photos with no detail, or outdated information that didn’t match what we saw living here.
So we started writing it down. First as messages to friends, then as proper guides. The healthcare advice came naturally — it’s our profession, and it’s the area where travellers are most anxious and least well-served. The transport, budgeting and island comparisons came from doing it ourselves, again and again, and learning what actually works.
Hello Seychelles is the result. Our goal is simple: to give you the kind of honest, practical, first-hand advice you’d get from friends who happen to live on the islands — not a brochure, and not a list of clichés. We tell you what’s worth it, what to skip, what to pack, and what to verify before you go.
We write from experience and keep our guides as current as we can, but Seychelles changes — prices, ferry times, opening hours and entry rules all shift. That’s why we always encourage you to confirm the details that matter before booking. Where we recommend hotels or services, we sometimes use affiliate links (including Expedia); if you book through them we may earn a small commission at no cost to you, and it helps keep this site running. We only point you toward things we’d suggest to friends. You can read our full affiliate disclosure any time.
If you’re planning a trip and have a question — about an island, a route, a hotel, or a health concern — we genuinely love to help. Reach us any time at info@hello-seychelles.com, or start with our Travel Planner.
